Conversion of car park put on hold

The signing of a contract with a private company to turn Suvarnabhumi airport's long-term parking lot into a shopping complex has been put on hold.

The contract which would give Pangram Retail Co the right to commercially develop the car park remains unsigned because Airports of Thailand and Suvarnabhumi airport executives have failed to secure board approval for the deal, AoT board chairman Piyapan Champasut said.

The proposed contract with Pangram would have a lifespan of 15 years, and Mr Piyapan said all concessions issued by the AoT that exceed five years needed to have board approval.
