Thailand and German liquidators are at loggerheads over a jet seized as part of a legal dispute, but how did the conflict take root?

On July 12, the German insolvency administrator Werner Schneider impounded a jet at Munich airport over a contractual dispute between German company Walter Bau AG and the Thai government.
Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya travelled to Germany last week in an attempt to have the plane released.
Its fate is still being disputed in the German courts, with the government unwilling to pay the 20 million (856 million baht) bond necessary for its release.
