Thai AirAsia (TAA) carried 20.3% more passengers last year than in 2010, topping 6.86 million to consolidate its leading position in Thailand's budget airline industry.
The preliminary operating statistics released yesterday by its parent carrier, Malaysia-based AirAsia Bhd, showed TAA was the second-largest contributor to Southeast Asia's largest low-cost carrier group, after Malaysia AirAsia's 17.98 million passengers last year, up 12% year-on-year.
As a group, AirAsia, which includes subsidiary Indonesia AirAsia, recorded 29.86 million passengers last year, up from the previous year's 25.68 million, reflecting the group's growing market share in the region.
