RAK Airways is set to launch flights from its home base in the UAE to Bangkok in June, joining the fray already dominated by two larger carriers from the oil-rich emirates.
The state-controlled airline _ its name is an abbreviation of Ras al-Khaimah, one of the seven emirates of the UAE _ will offer four non-stop flights from the emirate to the Thai capital, marking its first entry into Southeast Asia.
Bangkok will become RAK's 12th route, part of an expansion that began in 2010 after the carrier was hit hard by the 2007 financial crisis.
