Two-airport strategy criticised

IATA chief: Two hubs means no hub

Thailand should not be tempted to turn Don Mueang airport into another international option, focusing instead on developing Suvarnabhumi airport as a single hub, says the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Tyler: Streamlined process to help

The statement was in response to recycled suggestions that Bangkok's old airport should resume its previous role in serving flights beyond point-to-point domestic routes.

    Suvarnabhumi is getting closer to being at full capacity or even stretched a bit, should be expanded, it is expensive and will take time so get started now, no time to waste.

    IATA director-general Tony Tyler - an experienced and qualified expert who knows what he is talking about. Power reg. this matter - zero.

    Airports of Thailand Plc's board - a group of executives with little experience or qualifications, but with family members in all the right places. Power reg. this matter - total.
