Airlines unsure about Don Mueang move

Sketchy plans for support facilities are keeping airlines from committing to relocate from Suvarnabhumi airport to Don Mueang.

Unclear availability of facilities for ground handling, catering, immigration, duty-free shopping and customs services were named by executives as complicating the shift to Bangkok's old airport, code-named DMK.

Another question mark is passenger-oriented service such as ground transport between DMK and Suvarnabhumi (BKK) to accommodate flight connections.

I read that Air Berlin (AB) is among the 14 airlines targeted to move to DMK.

There are no AB flights to BKK at present and there seems to be no indication of AB resuming Bangkok service in the Winter 2012/13 season, per GDS timetable and inventory display.

Air Berlin cancelled all Bangkok flights in late March 2012 (MUC, TXL, DUS)as part of a network re-alignment with new shareholder Eithad Airways (EY).

International Safety standards must be fully understood and implemented at DMK.
Runway Conditions and Air Trafic Control Need Top Priority.
Ground support services should be part of the Lease contract(Air Carriers know best what they Need)
Local Infrastructure Issues should be addressed,Planned and mitigated.(By local Government)
