Airports ramp up flights for holiday great escape

Thailand's six main airports will be teeming with 24% more travellers in the forthcoming holiday season than in the same period last year.

A daily average of 255,300 passengers is expected to go through the airports from Dec 25 to Jan 5, up from 206,700 in the same period last year when the numbers were depressed by flooding.

The surge in traffic is in line with the estimates of airlines, which are providing 1,476 flights a day, up 144 or 11%, according to Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT).
