Strike paralyses Bangladesh airport

DHAKA - Flights at Dhaka's main airport were halted Tuesday after employees of Bangladesh's state-run airline went on an indefinite strike to improve working conditions, officials said.

Several thousand passengers, both inbound and outbound, were stranded at Shahjalal International Airport after the strike of Biman Bangladesh Airlines employees began at 6am (0000 GMT).

Some early flights landed on time, said Monirul Islam, an on-duty officer at the airport control tower.

That's what can happen if the government is not ahead of the curve and when the workers could not meet basic needs. We see strikes in Indonesia, China as a result of wage not in tandem with basic cost of living to just survive. We don't need industrial chaos that will shake the investors confidence and the government is right to foresee this happening by raising wage.
