THAI board accepts staff demands

BANGKOK - The board of Thai Airways International (THAI) has on Saturday night complied with its ground staff's demand to improve their salary increases from 4% to 7.5%, THAI president Sorajak Kasemsuvan said.

However, Mr Sorajak said, the board is still negotiating whether it will accept the labour union's demand to pay a 2012 bonus of two months' salary, instead of one month's salary.

He said the bonus payment is considered fair for the staff and it is also better than the previous years. The staff must accept that the global airline industry profits are declining, he added.

Not exactly the same style of management as Willie Walsh at BA, who didn't give in to union demands. Thai board seem soft...the increased costs won't help Thai make a profit. Weak management.
