Long-haul budget carrier AirAsia X eyes Thai launch

AirAsia X (AAX), the long-haul affiliate of the no-frills AirAsia group, is spreading its wings to Thailand in a move that will intensify competition and surprise airlines such as Thai Airways International (THAI).

AirAsia X’s Airbus A330-300 wide-body jets could be operating in Thailand in October.

AAX has sought Thai authorities' approval for an air operator's certificate to operate regular flights from Bangkok to South Korea and Japan, highly competitive routes with strong demand and growth potential.
