KUALA LUMPUR - Firefly Airlines says one of its domestic flights turned back after takeoff early Thursday due to landing gear problems. The plane landed safely and no one on board was hurt.
Firefly says the plane, a codeshare flight with its parent Malaysia Airlines, was unable to retract its landing gear aftr it took off from Penang international airport. It said the plane returned and made a normal landing in Penang 35 minutes later.
The incident comes as Malaysia Airlines struggles with safety issues in the aftermath of the disappearance of flight MH370, a Boeing 777, with 239 people on board on March 8 while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
