Airports chief wants upgrades

Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) has sought a further upgrade of Don Mueang and Phuket airports to be carried out in tandem with existing expansion work to cope with the soaring traffic. 

Mr Mekin says traffic at Don Mueang and Phuket is outpacing previous growth plans.

Under the plan submitted to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), the state-controlled airport operator advocated raising the passenger handling capacities of the two airports further to 60 million and 18 million, respectively.
