The meeting of economic ministers this morning did not order the Bank of Thailand (BoT) to introduce any additional measures to control foreign capital inflow and outflow, Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij said on after the meeting on Thursday.
The meeting, to discuss the baht’s continuing appreciation, was held at Government House and chaired by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
“The meeting has directed the BoT to keep a close watch on the baht’s value to prevent foreign investment inflow for profit speculation. The central bank was also asked to prepare baht control measures for any situation in the future,” said Mr Korn.
