Ministry, FTI form baht panel

A joint committee will be set up by the Commerce Ministry and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) in a bid to address the strengthening baht.

"We will gather facts on how the issue has hurt the real sector and submit them to the Finance Ministry, but we'll move forward with whatever we [the Commerce Ministry] can do immediately," said Commerce Minister Porntiva Nakasai.

The baht has risen by 3% over the past two months, lower than the rise of Malaysia's ringgit.
