Cash or barter options for Russian rice debt
The Commerce Ministry will today propose to the cabinet two options to solve Russia's long-term debt for rice purchases from Thailand.
The two options are cash payment within 30 days for the debt principal of US$36.44 million or a barter trade for Russian products to repay its debt totalling $41 million (including $4.62 million in interest payments), said Commerce Minister Porntiva Nakasai.
Product delivery to Thailand on a barter could be made until Oct 21, 2013, if the two countries agreed on that option.
