PTTAR to make biofuels

$150m plant for green jet fuel and biodiesel

PTT Aromatics and Refinery Plc plans to invest US$150 million for the first jet biofuel and biodiesel products to meet European aviation regulations that will take effect in 2012, says chief executive officer Chainoi Puankosoom.

Jet biofuel and biodiesel will be made through hydrogenation technology developed by parent PTT's laboratory two years ago to ensure the quality of its products will be aviation-compatible.

In terms of business viability, the company has an advantage over peers as it has surplus hydrogen and condensate residue from its petrochemical and oil refinery production that can be used in making the jet fuels.

And where does the feedstock for the biofuels come from, and how many more square kilometers of irreplaceable tropical forest will vanish as a result? Hmm, not mentioned in the article.

Off topic, but why must the Post insult our economic intelligence weekly with that idiot Krugman espousing his failed Keynesian ideology that is bankrupting the US every week? Save yourself some money, your readers some irritation, find someone who is actually credible, the local rot-ken operator would have a better perspective.
