August CCI hits 4-year high

The consumer confidence index (CCI) on the overall economy increased from 71.4 in July to 72.8 in August, the highest since 2006, the Economic and Business Forecasting Centre at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce said on Thursday.

The centre’s director Thanawat Polwichai attributed the substantial improvement in the CCI to the restoration of people’s confidence in the recovering economy and political stability.

The job opportunity confidence index for August stood at 71.6, up from 70.1 reported in July, while the future income confidence index went up to 98.1 from July’s 96.4, he said.
