Chiang Mai hopes for a long-stay life preserver

The Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce wants to promote the northern province as a long-stay haven for Japanese retirees.

Foreign retirees enjoy vegetable planting at a retirement school organised by the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce.

The long-stay market is a strong niche and it would improve tourism revenue in the province after political protests last year.

    A real sense of security been one of the most important, as people who want to retire are not just ATMs, They actually have the ability to contribute a lot more than just CASH to their new comminities. Xenophobic attitudes in Thailand are holding the country back while its neighbors actually offer the security expats look for when relocating from their birth country.
