Campaign in pipeline to halve chemical fertiliser use

The government is planning a campaign to encourage farmers to reduce by half their use of chemical fertilisers.
Thailand uses 5.3 million tonnes a year of chemical fertilisers worth 65 billion baht.
However, experts doubt whether the government will be able to reach its goal since many fertiliser and pesticide businesses are in the hands of provincial and national politicians.
