Nokia sees big future in single-tap devices

HONG KONG : Nokia is flexing its muscles in the first-time user market for mobile phones equipped with near-field communications (NFC) technology in a bid to become a leader in the fast-emerging short-range wireless connectivity arena.
New Nokia models featuring near-field communications technology that allows devices to connect with a single tap are shown on a giant screen at a presentation in Hong Kong.
The Finnish handset maker is installing NFC in its smartphones and accessories as well as introducing a new version of its Symbian Belle operating system.
