Exports are expected to grow by more than 15% next year, helped by President Barack Obama's jobs plan aimed at breathing new life into the ailing US economy.
Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, director-general of the Department of Export Promotion (DEP), said the US$447-billion plan announced last Thursday should help to stimulate the US economy by raising its consumers' purchasing power, in turn improving Thai export growth next year above this year's forecast of 15%.
For the first seven months of this year, Thai shipments to the US totalled $12.9 billion, up by 17.5% year-on-year, accounting for 9.5% of the country's total exports.
