Thai construction mogul finds inner peace with mid-range resort in Bhutan, thanks to that country's transparent investment policies.

A trip in late 2006 to Bhutan, which measures its citizens' well-being with the Gross National Happiness Index, turned into an investment opportunity for Voraphot Srimahachota, a construction industry veteran who ended up opening that country's first Thai-owned resort.
The Haven Paro Resort is seeing a steady climb in guest numbers since opening last November thanks in part to attractive package deals.
Earlier that year, Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, then a prince, had visited Thailand and received a rapturous reception from local people. The event inspired Mr Voraphot to take his first trip to the Himalayan kingdom.
