Budgets allocated for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are focused too much on government-related projects rather than promoting the development of businesses, says Deunden Nikomborirak, a research director at the Thailand Development Research Institute.
Last year the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME Bank) provided 81.29 billion baht in loans.
Of the total, 45.3% were loans of less than 5 million baht, 32.4% more than 25 million baht, 15.2% were loans ranging from 5-15 million baht and 7.1% ranging from 15-25 million baht.
