Flood damage put at B20 billion

The severe floods are likely to cause damage of at least 20 billion baht to farmers and inflate crop prices in the fourth quarter this year, according to the Kasikorn Research Centre.

The estimate of the damages on Sept 15 stood at eight billion baht, but with the inundation still afflicting farmland, livestock and fish farms, the cost was sure to rise, the centre reported on Monday.
