GUANGZHOU : Like most of his predecessors, Industry Minister Wannarat Channukul has declared that his first mission will be to change the country's investment promotion strategies to match changing times.
He said the Board of Investment for decades has been offering privileges based on different zones in order to promote wealth distribution to lower-income provinces.
However, higher privileges in less-developed areas have attracted few investors as most want to set up production plants in areas that are more commercially viable, especially in terms of logistics costs and good infrastructure.
