First-home net may expand

The government plans to expand the coverage of its first-home policy to cover lower-income earners in response to criticism that the existing terms benefit only the more affluent.

First-time homebuyers of units priced up to 5 million baht who make purchases from yesterday until December next year can deduct 10% of the price from their taxable income for five years.

The cabinet is scheduled to consider widening the scope of the incentives on Tuesday, according to Anuttama Amornvivat, a deputy government spokesman.

'Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had authorised the Finance Ministry and Revenue Department to revise the plan to cover all groups of people, especially low-income earners.'

No thought before for low income groups ? I thought PTP were the party dedicated to helping low income people, to provide a better quality of life for all Thais. Seems not but more of the same Thaksin like self serving greed.
