Wage worries increase

Raising the daily minimum wage to 300 baht will drive local garment businesses out of the country, warn industry leaders.
Sukij Kongpiyacharn, president of the Thai Garment Manufacturers Association (TGMA), said companies would not hesitate to migrate elsewhere if labour costs become too burdensome.
The advent of the Asean Economic Community in 2015 will make outsourcing easier, and some Thai garment makers have already started investing in neighbouring countries, he said.
