Suntory counting on green tea authenticity

Venture with Tipco will challenge Oishi

TOKYO : The top sellers of Japanese-style green-tea beverages in Thailand are not Japanese _ be it ownership, sources of leaves or even flavours.

Suntory sources leaves from plantations in Kyoto and says consumers will taste the difference.

Japanese authenticity was what Suntory, Japan's second-largest green-tea maker, underlined when it introduced its Mirai brand in the kingdom's burgeoning green tea market last month.
