Analysts have lowered their predictions for economic growth this year and in 2012, citing the slump in the US and Europe and its impact on exports.
The Bank of Thailand expects export diversification from the United States, Europe and Japan and growth in regional trade to cushion the blow, but China's decreasing exports to the world are seen having a knock-on effect.
Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul admitted recently that the central bank would probably reduce its growth forecasts for 4.1% this year and 4.2% in 2012 at the end of next month.
