Two major automakers yesterday extended production shutdowns in Thailand as the impact of heavy flooding on manufacturing continued to mount.
Toyota said production at its three local plants would be halted until Oct 22 because it could not get parts. The country's biggest automaker had originally planned to reopen its plants today.
Honda, meanwhile, said its Ayutthaya plant would be closed until Oct 21. The local unit of the Japanese automaker suspended operations Oct 5 because of a parts shortage, preceding the floods that swept into its factory in Rojana Industrial Park last weekend.
