Flood crisis alters property landscape

Flooding will be a factor in the purchase of both new and resale residential units, but people should not panic as Bangkok has been under a "protect and pump" regime for a long time, industry executives say.

Issara Boonyoung, the president of the Business Housing Association, says the risk of flooding has been a factor in decision making for certain locations on the outskirts of Bangkok for many years and residents have been able to live with the on-and-off floods.

Areas such as Bang Kapi and Ramkhamhaeng used to have floods in the past but are now generally safe from inundations.
