Retailers and direct-sales firms are enjoying rising sales of small electrical appliances this month to consumers stocking up in response to flooding.
Small home appliances such as rice cookers, water purifiers, irons and electric fans are the hottest items with sales growing by 30% above normal. Some people are donating these items to flood victims while others have moved to temporary residences.
Pongpasu Unaphom, marketing communications director of Skyline Unity Co, the direct-sales firm best known for the Giffarine brand, said its water-purifier sales in October were expected to reach 2,600 units, up from the usual 2,000 per month.
