In writing our "Hot Topics" article a couple of weeks ago, it really came to front-of-mind that, for us, the major theme of last year was the continuing need to implement the basics. Still.
Adding to that, not just one but two current clients are realising that a major reason why they are not improving the way they should be in managing their supply chain is that they are so poor at managing the projects. This includes both internal improvement and customer projects. And then, in the middle of this musing, came an item from our regular favourite blog, The 21st Century Supply Chain from Kinaxis software. Following is a slightly edited excerpt from that.
Recently, the blogger was reminded of an old TV commercial for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (surely we can figure out a Thai metaphor, maybe to do with somtam?). In this ad, one person was walking down the street enjoying their peanut butter. Another person is walking the other way eating a chocolate bar. The inevitable happens; and they collide causing the chocolate bar to get into the peanut butter. One of them declares: "Hey, you got your chocolate in my peanut butter!" The other replies: "You got your peanut butter on my chocolate!" Then to everyone's surprise, they find that the combination works!
