GS1 promotes bar codes, RFID for improved safety

GS1, the non-profit organisation dedicated to global standardisation, is expanding into health care and transport to improve consumer safety.

The move is aimed at increasing efficiency and competitive advantage in preparation for the Asean Economic Community in 2015.

The group is also preparing a pilot project in Thailand using bar codes to provide information about nutritional ingredients.

It is stanadard practice, its nothing new. They also have the manufacture date, exp date, batch No, on also. They have small labels on also which are taken off and stuck on a patients notes, etc. Equipment also.
