Jewellery group foresees B400bn in exports this year
5-8% growth driven by US, Asian markets
The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association expects to see industry exports worth 400 billion baht this year, up by 5-8% from last year, while urging exporters to improve their quality amid tougher competition.
Thai jewellers are told to improve quality, the key to surviving more intense competition.
Last year exports from Thailand totalled 370 billion baht, below its 400-billion-baht target due to poor sentiment in the global economy.
