The value of the 112 new projects which applied for Board of Investment privileges in January was up three-fold to 78.70 billion baht from the 26.3 billion baht reported in January 2011.
Industry Minister Pongsavas Svasti said on Thursday that the number of investment applications increased by 8.74 per cent over January last year.
The largest investment projects were 25 applications in the chemical, paper and plastic industries, with a combined investment cost of 47.7 billion baht, followed by 25 applications by services and utilities industries (13.2 billion baht) and 22 applications by electronics and electrical appliances industries (5.3 billion baht).
