The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun its inspection of the unusual movement in gold shares on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) last Dec 30, looking for the people involved.
The SEC may conclude its review next week, said Vattana Vongseenin, the chief executive of Phillip Asset Management, adding that irregular trading can happen in any market and by many methods.
''But the SEC is inspecting the incident now. I hope it will be it quick, as if information comes from different sources and it's all unclear, then that damages confidence in Thai gold funds,'' he said.
