The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) will propose a crop insurance fund to cover risk from natural disasters.
Assistant manager Boonthai Kaewkhuntee said the fund, with objectives similar to those of the 50-billion-baht natural catastrophe insurance fund, would help the government better manage risk in the agriculture sector.
In addition, affected farmers may obtain higher compensation than when natural blows hit farmland occasionally.
