The Thai capital market urged the government to quickly impose anti-money laundering laws in response to a warning by the Anti-Money Laundering Organisation last week as Thailand could be put on an international watch list.
The Federation of Thai Capital Market Organisations (Fetco) submitted a proposal to the government yesterday following Amlo's warning last week that financial institutions and listed companies in Thailand may be downgraded if the country drops to Level 1 on the watchlist at the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering conference that began yesterday. The new list will be announced next Monday.
There are four Asian countries on Level 2 including Thailand.
