IMF forecasts inflation-busting in H2

The government's stimulus package and monetary policy should support domestic demand and help the economy to strongly rebound from the flood this year, says the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

But the IMF expects the government and the Bank of Thailand will likely begin to withdraw these measures in the second half of the year to curb inflation.

Thomas Rumbaugh, the IMF division chief for the Asia-Pacific region, forecast Thai growth of 5.5% this year and 7.5% next year, with potential for even more gain.
