Economists see brighter outlook

Leading economists believe the economy in the second quarter of the year will be improved over the first quarter and that the outlook is brighter over the next three to six months, Bangkok Poll said on Thursday.

The Research Centre at Bangkok University, or Bangkok Poll, conducted a survey on “confidence index of economists on the Thai economy over the next 3-6 months” from April 22 to 25. The pollsters questioned 60 economists from the country’s leading economic agencies.

Bangkok Poll reported that the economists’ overall confidence in the present economy stood at 47.31 but still below 50, reflecting the fact that the respondents thought the Thai economy was still weak.

Once again 60 leading economists either got it wrong or were paid by the 'Desert Sheikh' to tell lies. Thank goodness we have so many posters here on the Forum who can put us right.

America is all but bankrupt, England has just entered it's second recession, the rest of is Europe teetering on the edge of oblivion, yet everything in Thailand (and Asia) is looking great! Yeah, right. We all believe that don't we? Without the rest of the world as clients, Asia has a very bleak future. All this needs now is China to start failing and begin to call in its loans. We will all be up the same creek without a paddle.

How much were they paid to say this nonsense. Ask anyone in the tourist industry and they wil tell you that occupancy is well down on the same period as last year, especially amongst Thai people who lost everythng during the floods last year and can no longer afford to take a break.

are they comparing to last year when exports were terrible because of the floods?

"the increase in exports and the expansion in the tourism sector" - I do understand, that said experts had a very good look at what is currently going on in Europe and the US. Right?
