Foreign workers closer to receiving BoI reprieve

The government will consider extending the period allowed to Board of Investment-promoted industries for employing foreign workers to ease the labour shortage in some sectors.

Industry Minister M.R. Pongsvas Svasti said a BoI subcommittee has agreed to extend the period until the end of this year from an earlier planned expiry date of May 31.

The proposal will be submitted to a BoI meeting chaired by Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong on May 25.
