The Student Loan Fund (SLF) is establishing new eligibility criteria for educational loans to encourage students to pursue fields where there is a shortage of qualified workers, said Finance Ministry permanent-secretary Areepong Bhoocha-oom.
The SLF has received a 46-billion-baht budget this year. Of the total, around 6 billion baht will be allocated to students choosing to pursue education as their field of study.
Dr Areepong, also the chairman of the student loan fund, said there is a severe shortage of teachers, and that the government needs to make efforts to alleviate the shortage.
