CAT Telecom was ordered yesterday to temporarily suspend all third-generation (3G) network investment and marketing activities.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Anudith Nakornthap asked the state telecom enterprise to wait for the end of official inquiries into the CAT-True Corporation third-generation (3G) network deal.
"Given that the True-CAT deal is still under investigation by many state agencies - and given that the National Economic and Social Development Board declined to approve budget for CAT and recommended CAT submit its budget request to the cabinet first - we think CAT should halt all activities related to its 3G project now," Gp Capt Anudith said after meeting with CAT's management and board executives.
