Utilities urged to cut fees

Electric authorities are being asked to waive or cut service fees for power bills nationwide in a move to ease the burden on low-income earners.

Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) chairman Direk Lavansiri said yesterday that the office is asking the Provincial Electricity Authority and Metropolitan Electricity Authority to waive payment fees charged to power users.

For payment service, users are now charged seven baht per transaction at Tesco Lotus, 10 baht at commercial banks and 15 baht at 7-Eleven stores.
