Thai heavy equipment specialist ECI-Metro establishes foothold to tap coming building boom in western China.

Rising demand for construction equipment as development gathers steam in western China could be worth as much as 100 billion baht in revenues to the Thai joint venture ECI-Metro over the next five years.

Executives of ECI-Metro and Caterpillar join Chinese officials to inaugurate the Thai company’s 500-million-baht integrated service centre in Chengdu.

ECI Metro has a long history as a distributor and dealer of Caterpillar equipment in southwestern China. It is a joint venture between Thailand’s Metro Machinery and Ek-Chor Investment Co Ltd, an arm of the Charoen Pokphand Group, the pioneering foreign investor in China.
