Indonesia to promote locally produced cars

The Indonesian government is planning to introduce a platform to promote locally produced energy efficient vehicles in 2013.

Jakarta Post reported that Indonesia’s Industry Ministry is planning to introduce a platform for small-engine cars that it is developing in conjunction with the Assessment and Application of Technology Agency (BPPT) in the middle of next year.

The Industry Ministry’s director general for high-priority industries, Budi Darmadi, said on Tuesday in Jakarta that the platform would serve as a standard for cars using engines of less than 1,000 cc.
