Cooperation urged to beat corruption

Public-private alliance key to effecting change

Tackling corruption requires the participation of civil society and businesses even though a legal framework is in place, a forum was told.

Bandid Nijathaworn, president of the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD), said creating collective action among businesses, civil society and the public sector is the one of the best ways to serve long-lasting efforts to fight corruption.

The IOD initiated the Private Sector Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption in which large Thai and foreign companies cooperated to implement, share and monitor their anti-corruption compliance programmes.
