- +

The government has yet to decide on opening a new round of exploration and production licence bids for 22 onshore and offshore oil and gas sites with a combined area of 46,000 square kilometres.

Songpop Polachan, director-general of the Mineral Fuels Department, said a panel established by his agency is studying the pros and cons of extending existing licences or opening a 21st round of licence bids.

The round will have 22 blocks to explore - 11 in the Northeast, six in the Central Plains and five in the Gulf of Thailand.
