    Competition? Thailand is currently doing everything possible to be less competitive. Fret there's the artificially (politically) inflated minimum wage. Then there's the rice pledging scheme. Then there's a complete systemic failure to address corruption. Then there's ASEAN: there are pages that could be written on the unfolding disaster that is ASEAN, but suffice to say that Thailand's position as a low cost manufacturer is deeply threatened by literally every on of her neighboring countries, and the notion that Thailand is prepared to climb the technological ladder to less labor intensive, more profitable manufacturing just doesn't fly
